The Wiles family had lived in state of Virginia for years many years. Then they decided to move over 500 miles away to South Carolina. The family did not know how long it would take to find a new home, and Buster would need plenty of room to run. He needed a yard to play in.

So the Wiles thought it would be better to leave Buster. They would send for him after they bought a new house with a yard big enough for his needs.

The Wiles packed their belongings in a truck. They told Buster good-bye. They knew they would miss him, but it was best to have him wait until he could have a new yard.

Soon after they left, they heard from their friends; Buster had run away. They were very worried. Weeks went by. They were sad because they thought they would never see Buster again. They asked the friends to offer a reward for Buster’s return.

Then one day a veterinarian called them. The vet asked them if they had a dog. The Wiles said, “Yes, but it had run away.” The vet asked if the dog’s name was Buster. They were excited. They asked how she knew the dog’s name.

The vet reminded them that they had put a microchip under Buster’s skin when he was a puppy. The chip had a number that told who Buster belonged to.

The family was very happy that Buster would soon returned to their new house. They called all their friends told them what had happened. The Wiles encouraged all their friends with pets to get microchips for their pets.
